Retail technology app relies on Dexi’s up-to-the-minute, big data extraction from top manufacturers to create a customer virtual view before they buy

The power of our visualisation technology can only work if we have the volume and freshness of detailed product and mechanical data available to us instantly.
By 2023, 80% of organizations using AI for digital commerce will achieve at least 25% improvement in customer satisfaction, revenue or cost reduction.

This augmented and virtual reality firm saw the opportunity to use visual technology to help better promote products for manufacturers and designers by providing a virtual reality experience for customers before they choose a preferred brand or material e.g. floor tiles for a new kitchen.

To be truly representative of all the products on offer, the visualiser app needs to access thousands of products and variants like size, colour, finish and availability. The overall scale of data required – based on the rate of new products becoming available and a large number of possible product combinations – meant building a definitive database could only be achieved using automated web data extraction technology.

Dexi’s digital data capture solution was perfect for the task based on the scale of the data that needed to be extracted and the depth and complexity of the extraction. Dexi’s ability to interact as well as harvest more straight forward data was key in becoming the preferred solution. Using its PIPES feature, Dexi is able to join multiple tasks involving interacting (e.g. selecting different product combinations) and extracting displayed data from a target web page under the management of a “master” automation robot. The extracted data are then loaded into the app for reference and in turn used to create a powerful visualisation of different customer building product choices in situ.

Automation of high scale data collection involving web page interaction as well as web data capture has allowed the companies visualisation app to be a viable, cost-effective and powerful offering to manufacturers, designers and customers.
